Secretary TDAP gives awards at Heimtextil student competition 2014

Messe Frankfurt Pakistan organized a Heimtextil Student Competition at Asian Institute of Fashion and Design

The Third (3rd) student competition for Heimtextil was held on Thursday, 27th November 2014, at Asian Institute of Fashion and Design (AIFD) where around 40 students displayed their designs based on and followed by Heimtextil Trends. The winner will be sent to Heimtextil 2015 by the organizers.

The Jury members were Ms. Rabiya Javeri Agha – Secretary TDAP, Omer Salahuddin – Messe Frankfurt Pakistan and Mr. Amin Sakhiya – Alfaz Enterprises

Heimtextil is the biggest exhibition for home textile in the world and Pakistan has over 220 exhibitors at this show. At Heimtextil there is a special hall- 4.2 which is exclusive to textile designers. International designers and schools from Europe are regular exhibitors in this hall.

In the past few years, Messe Frankfurt Pakistan has been working with different textile design students to encourage them to visit Heimtextil – Europe’s leading fair for home and contract Textile.

After the assessment the Jury member’s announced the Winner:

1st place: Ms. Huma Majid (Student of 3rd Year)

2nd place: Ms. Efrah Nadeem (Student of 3rd Year)

3rd place: Ms. Zainab Abid Marvi. (Student of 3rd Year)

GOVERNOR SINDH DISTRIBUTES AWARDS AMONG CHIEF SECRETARY SINDH & OTHERS EMINENTS

Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ibad Khan has said that economy might be strengthened through the coordinated efforts of all sections of life specifically he added that business community could play a vital role, in this connection.

He expressed these views while addressing a conference, held in a local hotel, entitled “Pakistan – a land of opportunities”, organized by a group of business promoters

Addressing the seminar, Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana has said that the Sindh province is enriched with the abundance of natural resources including coal reservoir in Thar area, all them may be used reasonably through effective investment adding that the traders and industrialists should come forward to boost the economy.

On the occasion , Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat-ul-Ebad, distributed the award amongst the dignitaries including former Governor State Bank of Pakistan Dr. Ishrat Hussain and Chief Secretary Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana. Earlier, Ejaz Nisar, the organizer of conference elaborated the back ground of conference a book entitled 100 eminent CEOs, was also launched on that occasion.

Three Indus dolphins Found dead-CM warns against using of deadly chemical for fishing

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali has expressed serious concern over finding three Indus dolphins dead within last 25 days and directed chief conservator to report the details of the causalities. “Blind dolphins are the beauty and identification of the province of Sindh and they must be protected,” the chief minister issued clear directives.
The Chief Minister observed that there was a protected sanctuary of Indus Dolphins between Guddu and Sukkur Barrages. Their inhabitant has always been free of pollution, then why they are dying,” the chief minister questioned.
He further observed that in the past sometimes Indus dolphins were found entangled in the doors of Dadu or rice canals or moved to shallow water and then people caught hold of them . “This is alarming that these days they are being found dead. This needs to be inquired thoroughly,” the chief minister directed the Chief Conservator of Wildlife Department.
The chief minister further directed the Commissioners of Sukkur and Hyderabad to take necessary measures to keep the inhabitat of the Indus dolphin free from pollution.
The chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has also urged the fishermen not to pollute Indus water while fishing in the protected area. “I have some reports that fishermen are using deadly chemical for fishing in the protected area. This would not be tolerated at any cost. I would revise fishing policy If this practice is continued,” he warned.

The spokesperson of Sindh Chief Minister, Syed Qaim Ali Shah commenting on the press conference of MQM leaders said that it was a bunch of baseless allegations. “Whatever, they have said had nothing to do with the reality and truth.”
He said that PPP government has given equal rights to the people of Sindh and also to the people of Pakistan right from the tenure of its founding chairman Shaheed Bhutto. It would not be an exaggeration to say that PPP government has served the people of Karachi and Hyderabad with more attention and focus,” he said and added that PPP leadership has never differentiated between Larkana and Karachi. All the cities of the province are equally dear to us.
The spokesperson said PPP has given jobs purely on merit and nobody raised finger of accusation. The present PPP government imposed ban on recruitment as it came into power about one and half year ago. “Last month ban was lifted and only the positions of constables were filled purely on merit,” he said.
The spokesperson further said “MQM had made over employment in KMC, KBCA and in such other local bodies of Karachi and Hyderabad purely on political basis. “There was a drill of ghost employees in these institutions despite the fact we didnot raise finger of accusation,” he said.
Brushing aside the allegation of selling jobs the chief minister’s spokesperson said “PPP has given jobs irrespective of cost, creed and ethnic discrimination.”The MQM leader who addressed press conference had never raised such issues when MQM was in coalition with PPP government and when they have quit the government they are misguiding the people of the province.

ISSUANCE OF COMPUTERIZED ARMS LICENSE BOOKS STARTS – DR. NIAZ ALI ABBASI

The Home Secretary Sindh Dr. Niaz Ali Abbasi has directed the officers concerned to ensure and expedite the printing process of computerization of arms license books, this he said while presiding over a meeting at his office.
It was informed that the printing of license books by NADRA office setup in the Sindh Home Department office has started printing of arms license books and so far 3539 books have been printed which are being dispatched by NADRA to Deputy Commissioners and the NADRA will also inform through SMS messages to applicants for collection of the same.
The division-wise breakup of the computerized arms license books so far printed is:- Karachi –1414; Hyderabad—1087; Mirpurkhas—286; Sukkur—261 and Larkana—491.
It was also informed that so far 1,057,456 manual arms licenses were issued in the province and the division wise details are:- Karachi—254,255; Hyderabad—376,401; Mirpurkhas—124,771; Sukkur—150,923 and Larkana—150,553.
The total number of forms submitted by manual arms license holders to Deputy Commissioners/NADRA for computerization are 424,430 and break up is Karachi—75,940; Hyderabad—153,537; Mirpurkhas—52,856; Sukkur—71,582 and Larkana—70,515.
It is mentioned here that the Sindh Government has initiated computerization/ re-validation of arms licenses in Sindh from 1st October, 2013 in pursuance of direction of Honorable Supreme Court of Pakistan. Main objective of the exercise is to establish proper computerized database to deter illegal arms proliferation and monitor the arms stock in the province. In this regard, every possible step was taken to inform general public to get their licenses re-validated/computerized through NADRA desks available at all Deputy Commissioners offices since 1st October 2013. For twice revalidation period was extended firstly from 01.01.2014 to 15.02.2014 and secondly from 01.05.2014 to 31.10.2014.
According to the stepwise procedure for computerization of arm licenses, the forms were collected by Deputy Commissioners concerned and after verification these were forwarded for digitalization/revalidation/database entries to NADRA office at Islamabad.
The NADRA has setup its office adjacent to Sindh Home Department at Karachi for printing of computerized arms license books and from where, after printing of books, NADRA has to send the license books through courier service to Deputy Commissioners concerned and also inform the applicants (manual license holders) by SMS messages asking them to collect the books from Dy. Commissioners concerned.
