SUKKUR: The Special Assistant to Sindh Chief Minister Ali Hasan Hingorjo after visiting Begari dyke, Zero Point Sukkur and Ali Wahan dyke seemed satisfied and said that the flood situation is normal, the protective dykes are strengthened and there is no danger to Sukkur district from flood water.
Speaking to media personnel at Zero Point and Ali Wahan dyke, Ali Hasan Hingorjo said that after public complaints and media reports regarding the seepage at Begari dyke, he has visited the place of Begari dyke where its condition is quite satisfactory and seepage is of a minor level.
There were no expectation of breakage of the dyke and was no danger to Sukkur city and throughout the district, he added. He further said that the transport facility is being provided to residents of kutcha areas of Ghotki district and they are migrating to safe places. He said that 1980 people have left kutcha areas in Ghotki, who are being provided food items, cooked food packets and drinking water besides the arrangements made for medical camps for the treatment facility of affected people and veterinary camps for their cattle.
The Special Assistant told that 116 families from Kandhkot Kashmore have also reached at the relief camps.
He said, at present the pressure level of water is normal and if it increased then, all the residents of kutcha areas will be shifted to safe places and settled at relief camps adding that said, the motor boats, heavy machinery and other required material have also made available at protective dykes.
The Special Assistant Ali Hasan Hingorjo said that they are well prepared even for heavy flood, despite this, if needed, the federal government will be asked for the assistance. He told that 4 tent cities in Sukkur and 03 in Ghotki have been established.
Answering to a question, the special assistant for Relief Mr Hingorjo said that in connection to stagnant water in cities after monsoon rains, de-waterifng pumps, machinery and other relief items have been made available at each district.
On this occasion, Director General PDMA Salman Shah, Commissioner Sukkur Division Muhammad Abbas Baloch, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Shahzad Fazal Abbasi and officers of the irrigation department were also present.

SUKKUR: Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Shahzad Fazal Abbasi presided over a meeting at his office regarding reviewing arrangements taken to face the expected flood situation.
Maj. Ayaz, a representative from Pak Army, Executive Engineer Fayaz Hussain Shah, ADC-II Sukkur Muhammad Ayoob Chachar, all Assistant Commissioners and officers of Municipal, NSUSC and other concerned departments also attended the meeting.
Speaking to the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Sukkur Shahzad Fazal Abbasi said that people of the kutcha areas of the district have been suggested to reach at safe places and the relief camps, so that, in this connection, announcements have already been made and notices have also sent to population consisted of 50 to 60 thousand people residing at the kutcha area of New Sukkur, Rohri and Pano Akil talukas of Sukkur district.
The tents have been settled at the relief camps which are established at Ali Wahan, Soomra Panhwari and Baiji dykes. Deputy Commissioner further informed that more than 50 villagers of the kutcha area including their cattle have reached at the camp established at Ali Wahan protective dyke.
He said that the medical and livestock camps including mobile medical teams have also been managed to treat the residents of the kutcha areas. DC Sukkur directed all Assistant Commissioners that they should keep monitoring of relief camps and flood situation at kutcha areas round the clock and provide people food items, drinking water and other facilities who are presently residing in tents at the relief camps.
He told that the Irrigation department has been directed to increase the alertness at Baiji dyke and other sensitive points. It has been written to PDMA for provision of life jackets, motor boats, generators, tents and other required items, he added. He said, however, the provincial officers of the relief and PDMA are also about to reach here who will also be acknowledged regarding the requirements.
DC Sukkur directed the NSUSC authorities to remove the leakage or seepage in the pipe lines in the way of protective dyke, if it does exist anywhere.
On this occasion, Executive Engineer Sukkur Barrage Fayaz Hussain Shah said that all the protective dykes are safe and strong enough to face the situation and alertness at the sensitive point have also been increased.
The stock of stone including required machinery at the all sensitive points and protective dykes have been made available and staff including officers are being monitoring the situation round the clock, the Executive Engineer added.
