KARACHI:
Aafia Movement here Wednesday in a rejoinder to a statement of former official of security agency about the daughter of the nation, Aafia Siddiqui, said it was against the facts and record.
Aafia Movement spokesman said former director general of ISI Gen (retd) Ahsanul Haq in TV talk show ‘Jirga’ of Saleem Safi had claimed that Aafia Siddiqui had never remained in the custody of their agency. He reminded that a statement of SSP Imran Shaukat, the former incharge of counter-terrorism cell Sindh and head of Elite Force is on the record in which he had confessed that in 2003 he whisked away Aafia … and handed her to the spy agency.
He said this statement of SSP Imran Shaukat has already been published in the report of International Justice Network, USA, that Dr Aafia along with her innocent children was kidnapped in 2003 and subjected to torture by the spy agencies.
The spokesman said the family of Dr Aafia Siddiqui does not want revenge from any institutions, but just appeals to all the institutions of Pakistan to lend them assistance in the early release of Aafia.
He said the people of Pakistan also ask why our agencies have still not succeeded in securing the release of the daughter of the nation. He said in a mockery to justice, Dr Aafia is sentenced for 86 years. He said with the repatriation of Aafia not only her family but also millions of Muslims who are saddened on her plights would be solaced.
He appealed to the nation to pray for the early release of innocent Aafia and also for the leaders of this nation.
