KARACHI: The Spokesman of Sindh Chief Minister House Karachi has said that PPP Govt is giving top priority to the Health and Education sectors. He said PPP Govt has made matchless performance in these sectors under the leadership of Chief Minister Sind Syed Qaim Ali Shah and it is committed to provide qualitative services to the people in these most important social sectors in future as well. He said that this is evident from the fact that education receives highest share of resources and Govt has made allocation of Rs 134.32 billion for non development expenditure of the Education in current financial year 2014-2015 and Rs 10.7 billion for its development of its infrastructure, similarly provincial Health Deptt has been allocated non salary allocation of Rs 43.583 billion with 13.2 Billion for its ADP 2014-15. He said that keeping in the view the importance of portfolio, these two important Departments have been remained under the Administration of top most Senior Ministers in the Cabinet who performed under the Leadership of Chief Minister Sindh.
Commenting on the some news and views about the Poor performance of the PPP Govt especially in these two sectors the spokesman Sindh Chief Minister House Karachi said that the tangible development and deliveries and record reflect the marvelous performance of the PPP Govt specially in the Education, Health and other sectors of social development. He said that it was also 1st time that PPP Govt has made school specific budget for 43,000 schools in Sindh to ensure each School get its earmarked budget. Similarly huge allocation or Rs 10.7 billion has been made for the development side of education sector under which 10 public school each at Umarkot, Sanghar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Tando Allahyar, Ghotki, Matiari, Kambar Shahdad kot, Gadap, Dadu & Jacobabad and 8 new cadet colleges each at Dadu, Gadap, Mithi, Khairpur, Karam Pur, Jacobabad, Badin, Tando Jam and two other cadet colleges exclusively for girls each at Shaheed Benazir Abad and Ghari Khuda Bux are being established. In addition to that establishment of Bilawal Bhutto Engineering College at Liyari, Govt Girls Degree College at Tando Jam, and Law College at Sukkur & Karachi has also been planned. He said that work on establishment of Shaheed Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto University of Law will also be initiated by this year and it will be the 1st University of Law in the Country. The Spokesman further informed that the PPP Govt has also completed 19 schemes in education sector, major among are establishment of Law College at Hala New , Larkana, construction of 137 schools in Distt Umarkot , Govt Girls Degree College Mehrabpur, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Govt Degree College and Nusrat Bhutto Boys Degree College Liyari.
While commenting on the standard of the education The Spokesman said that when PPP Govt came in power, there were deteriorated condition of the Govt schools and sub standard level of education. He said that PPP Govt was inheritated 5000 closed schools in the province and un trained teaching staff in the functional schools. He said that PPP Govt under its commitment with peoples re opened about 2,000 closed schools, while 3,000 remaining Schools are being re opened shortly for which induction of 20,000 PST, JST, HST was in progress.. He said that Sindh Govt has provided professional training to more than 50,000 teachers including 30,000 teachers under the CIDA funded teachers training programme and other under the induction training programme to ensure qualitative education in the province. He said that PPP Govt was also planning to convert Provincial Institute of Teaching Education (PITE) in to the University to enhance the capacity building of the teachers and standard of education upto grass root level. He said that to constitute Curriculum Advisor Committee CAC was also on the credit of PPP Govt to revise and update the curriculum for having standard education. He said that at present under this committee curriculum from class 1 to 4 has been revised.
Similarly the PPP Govt always has given priority to Health Sector and made remarkable achievements with efficient deliveries to the ailing people. He said that the non salary budget of this sector is constantly being increased year to year as such Rs 43.583 billion have been allocated to this sector in current financial year with 20% increase as compare to last year. Whereas, amount of Rs 13.2 Billion has also been allocated to this sector for its ADP 2014-15. He said that in addition to implementing the development work about 100 development schemes under the Expansion & Improvement of District Head Quarter Hospitals in previous years at the cost of Rs 12 billion which was in progress and in final stage, the 84 new schemes would be initiated this year. He said that the major schemes of undertaken under the Expansion & Improvement of District Head Quarter Hospitals include 10 District Head Quarter Hospitals , up gradation of 7 Taluka Head Quarter Hospitals into District Head Quarter Hospitals, establishment of 41 Trauma Centers , repair of 39 Taluka Hospitals . However these 84 major new schemes include establishment of new OPD Complex at Civil Hospital Karachi at the Cost of Rs 6.2 Billion, establishment of 500 bedded teaching hospital at LUMS Jamshoro, construction of 400 bedded hospital at NEPA choragi Karachi at the Cost of Rs 1.7 Billion, establishment of Cardiology hospital, paeds hospital and Kidney Center at Hyderabad, establishment of Liver transplant unit (SIUT) at Karachi, establishment of SIUT complex at Sukkur and launching Rescue Ambulatory services including call center in all districts of Sindh with a cost of Rs 1.5 billion
He said that In addition to that the Govt of Sindh is also funding to the Health nutrition programme, Hepatitis Control Programme, EPI Programme, Mid wife training porgramme and also providing the Financial assistance of Rs 2 Billion to the SIUT and major grants to other hospitals as well. He said that PPHI has also been allocated Rs 2.379 Billion to deliver the Health facilities to the ailing people at Grass Root level. He said that these achievements are historical and people welfare oriented which never have been delivered in the past.
