HYDERABAD: Sindh government health department has launched campaign against eradication of measles in province and a walk was taken out here Thursday evening led by District Health Officer Ghulam Mustafa Abbasi. Addressing the participants mostly male and female taff of health department, DHO Abbasi said the children of the age 6 months to 10 years will be vaccinated.
He said polio paralyses the body of child for whole life but the measles causes death. He asked health staff to convince the people to get their children vaccinate as government desires to save their children from this deadly disease.
He advised then to talk to people in a civilized manner and avoid hot argument. He said the district and local administration as well law enforcement agencies will be extending cooperation to them during the campaign. He informed that Dr. Sono Khan has been made focal person for this campaign. He asked staff to concentrate on schools for vaccination.
He deplored that our country has still not been polio free though Bangladesh and India have achieved this status. He said Pakistanis traveling abroad were facing hardships as they were being asked to produce anti polio drops certificate and to get it a long queue of people stands before his office.
Dr. Masood Jafri and other officers and doctors of health department were present on the occasion.
