KARACHI: Her Excellency Ms. Robin Raphel, Ambassador USA, Mr. Skip Waskin, Deputy Mission Director for USAID and other officials of the Consulate General of USA in Karachi met Additional Chief Secretary (P&D) Mr. Muhammad Waseem in his office and discussed USAID programs being implemented in Sindh from the USAID funding. Present among others were Secretary, Education Department Mr Fazalullah Pechuho, and Project Directors.
Additional Chief Secretary while welcoming the participants appreciated the role of USAID in improving social infrastructure, education and municipal services in different parts of the province. He briefed that the three mega projects namely; Sindh Basic Education Program (SBEP), Sindh Municipal Services Delivery Program (MSDP) and Jacobabad Institute of Medical Sciences (JIMS) with a funding of approximately US$ 250 million from USAID are performing well under their active guidance.
Ms. Raphel on the occasion said that USAID appreciates the reciprocal support and coordination by Government of Sindh on account of its active involvement and effective supervision in execution of USAID projects.
The Government of Sindh has always been welcoming the generous support from USAID and would expect a similar support in future in some other core sectors which require similar support and assistance from major Donor agencies like USAID, Mr. Waseem, concluded.
