CM expresses sympathies over the arrest of MQM Chief

KARACHI:
The Chief Minister Sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah has saddened over the reported detention of MQM Chief Altaf Hussain in London and expressed his sympathies with the leaders and workers of MQM and his family. The Chief Minister Sindh also contacted Governor Sindh Dr. Eshrat-ul-Ibad on phone this evening and expressed his sympathies over this sad report.
The Chief Minister Sindh has appealed the leaders and workers of MQM for remaining calm and maintaining the peace in Karachi and other cities of the province.
The Chief Minister Sindh also expressed his apprehension about the Health of Mr. Altaf Hussain and prayed for his early health recovery.

Invitation to Guinness Book of World Record to visit and examine voluntarily “World unique yearly blood collection”

The Sindh Government and Peoples Doctors forum of Pakistan Peoples Party has invited authorities of the Guinness Book of World Record to visit, examine and certify the exercise of voluntarily “World unique yearly blood collection” being made by the forum to mark the birth anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto, and incorporate it as the world record.
This was decided in the meeting presided over by the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah who was also the president of PPP Sindh held at CM House Karachi today to discuss and decide the modalities to collect maximum number of blood pints from the party leaders, workers and common men during the upcoming blood donation campaign on the eve of the birthday anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
The President Peoples Doctors Forum Senator Dr. Karim Khuwaja, Coordinator to CM Mohammad Siddique Abubhai, Secretary Health Iqbal Durani, Special Secretary Health Dr. Suresh Kumar, Dr. Sabir and other officers from Sindh Health Department and members from Peoples Doctors Forum attended the meeting. The participants of the meeting after threadbare discussions and deliberations, decided to launch 3-day blood donation campaign from the June 21,2014 in the whole Sindh.
It was decided that blood donation centers would be established at each distinct and taluka headquarters to collect the blood from June 21 to 23, 2014. The participants which reviewing last 6 years same practice fixed the collection target of 30000 donated blood pints during the campaign. While provincial Health Department was assigned to provide all necessary facilities including cold chain.
Addressing the meeting, the chief minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah said that the motto of Pakistan Peoples Party and Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto was to serve and scarify for the poor people as such since last 6 years the Sindh Government of PPP and Peoples Doctors Forum are holding blood donation campaign to mark the birth anniversary of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto.
He said that he was of the view that in throughout worked, there is no organization/ government, collecting the such huge quantity of blood pints voluntarily from the workers and common man, except Sindh government / Peoples Doctors Forum here in Sindh province.
The president Peoples Doctors Forum Senator Dr. Karim Khuwaja, while talking in the meeting said that necessary district-wise committees have been formed to make this campaign a more success. He said that his forum are collecting the blood since last 6 years and same were being provided to government hospitals, health centers and Pak Army to save the lives of poor patients and those who are fighting with terrorism.
He said that he was optimistic that we to collect at least 30,000 blood bags which will be a world record that an organization is collecting such a huge quantity of blood and helping poor voluntarily.

CM stresses inter-sectarian & religious harmony for prosperity and peaceful atmosphere in province

The Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has stressed for the need of inter-sectarian and religious harmony for the progress, prosperity and peaceful atmosphere in the province. This he observed while talking to a delegation of Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimen, which called on him at CM House Karachi today.
Referring to grievances, presented by Syed Ali Hussain Naqvi, the Chief Minister Sindh said that Sindh government was giving top priority to the law & order situation and has launched the targeted operation against the criminals/terrorists without any discrimination with result of that considerable improvement has been achieved. The Chief Minister said that Sindh Government has decided to provided security and arms licences to all professionals/ religious and political leaders for their protection.
The Chief Minister directed the IG Sindh Police and Additional IG Sindh police to enhance the security and curb the sectarian killings, provide full security at Imambargahs, Mosques and other worship places of minorities at any cost taking notice of sectarian killings in the central districts, the Chief Minister directed IG Police for tightening the security at district center and even taking action against the defaulting police officers in this regard.
The Chief Minister Sindh said that it has also been decided to provide compensation on account of the targeted killings of the professionals and common man as well. The Chief Minister Sindh also formed a five member committee headed by Commissioner Karachi Shoib Siddiqui to discuss the demands of MWM and to evolve mechanism to solve the same.
The Chief Minister Sindh said that we are after the terrorists and they (the terrorists) are on run. He said that though Sindh Government is doing its best but the meaningful cooperation against the terrorists is needed from people for rooting them out completely.

KCCI echoes against illegal mobile SIMs in a meeting with CM Sindh

The echo against illegal mobile SIMs was sounded by the members of chamber of commerce and industries Karachi, while holding meeting with the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at CM House Karachi this evening.
They opined that these SIMs were the instrumental source of crime and termed it as the main hindrance in the way of targeted operation against the terrorists, target killers and extortionists. A delegation of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries led by Siraj Qasim Teli, was called on Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at CM House Karachi and apprised him about problems including security, shortage of water, electricity and non-supply of required gas for their industries.
The delegation expressed their apprehensions over the illegal SIMs and added that they had already demanded from federal government for blockage of these SIMs but no action so far has been taken. The Chief Minister Sindh while responding their demands, directed the management of the KWSB to provide at least minimum water requirements of the industrialists on priority basis. So far the matter of the supply of gas and electricity is concerned, the authority concerned would be approached to resolve their problem, he added.
The Chief Minister Sindh said that each among them is aware of the fact that Sindh government has launched a vigorous targeted operation against the terrorists in Karachi, consequently considerable reduction in the crime has been achieved. He said that today situation was not same as it was before the targeted operation.
He said that today confidence of people has been restored, they are coming out, lodging complaints against extortionists. We have controlled on law and order and the terrorists are on run and we are after them. He said that we are going to strengthen the Sindh police to meet present challenges and hopefully within shortest period Karachi to be considered one of the peaceful but commercial cities of the world. He said that his government continuously is demanding for blockage of illegal SIMs and would do again in the interest of the common man and make the targeted operation a success.
So far the transfer of the officers was concerned, these have been made in compliance of the court orders, he clarified. He said that even the affected officers had approached the courts but not benefitted. The Chief Minister Sindh said that his government was following the investment-industry friendly policies to encourage private sector and generate maximum job opportunities.
He said that it was his government that provided Rs. 270 million for the reconstruction of site road of Karachi. He said that Sindh government was working on to enhance the capacity of KWSB to minimize the water shortage.
The Chief Minister Sindh directed the IG Sindh police to form a special taskforce against the kidnappers and extortionists, and also to enhance security measures at the site area. He also directed him to take action against the black sheep if any in the Sindh Police.
