DADU: Seven women among thirty seven protesters were injured in police lathi charge at SSP chowk dadu on Tuesday morning as soon as heavy contingency of Dadu police arrived at the SSP chowk to disperse the protesters, clash happened between protesters and police and caused DSP city among twenty one policemen also injured in exchange of clubs and stones. The SSP chowk gave a look of battle field for one hour, angry protesters pelted stones at the glasses of police vehicles and police also burnt the tent and arrested the protesters.
It is remembered that a big number of Mallah tribesmen, residents of Mallah chowk of dadu city arrived at SSP chowk and suspended all kind of traffic at Dadu-Larkana, Dadu-Hyderabad, Dadu-Moro and Dadu-Johi routes at Indus highway and staged sit-in demonstration at SSP Chowk by installing a tent against kidnapping of a little boy aged 18 months, Ali Zain Mallah. Protesters were led by mother, Salma Mallah, grandfather; Juman Mallah of the kidnapped boy Ali Zain Mallah.
Earlier this morning at 5 am, heavy contingency of Dadu police led by DSP city, Abdullah Unar, SHO – A section police Akbar Panhwar arrived at spot and asked the protesters to clear road but protesters refused and exchanged hot words. Dadu police used lathi charge and tear gas on protesters in which total thirty protesters and seven other women were injured in exchange of clubs, stones and lathi charge. In exchange with protesters, One DSP city Abdullah Unar and 20 other policemen were also injured. Dadu Police has arrested seven women and thirty other protesters. Dadu A- section police station lodged case under anti terrorism act against the protestors for creating worsening of law and order situation in town. Police also burnt the tent of protesters and cleared road for traffic for all ways.
Salma Mallah, mother of kidnapped child told the newsmen that she will prefer to die. She said that she will not end protest untill her son would be recovered. She said that police had received huge amount as a bribe from Ayoob Mallah hence had used tear gas and lathi charge on them and had injured women and other their supporters and relatives those were protesting peacefully. She said that it was not justice and all women were sent into lock up. She said that police was developing pressure to withdraw from complaints against Ayoob Mallah.
She appealed to Prime Minister, Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharief to look into matter and direct Sindh chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah for providing justice.
SSP dadu, Tariq Razak Dharejo said that since last two days a main Indus highway was suspended and public was in trouble and as soon as police had reached at spot to clear road, they angry protesters had attacked on police with clubs and different type weapons including bricks and stones in which a number of police staff was injured. He said that police had managed to restore the road and situation was normal in city. He said that justice will be provided to affected party but police will not allow to anyone to create worsening situation in city.
Talking to this scribe, MPA Kalsoom Chandio condemned the act of lathi charge on women protesters. She said that it was very wrong step of dadu police to use lathi charge on them. She said that she was ready for grantee of arrested women and if police can ready to release them on her grantee.
