AJK Parliament delegation visits Chief Minister Sindh

A 07 member parliamentary delegation of Azad Jamo & Kashmir (AJ&K) led by the Speaker of AJ&K Assembly Sardar Ghulam Sadiq Khan called on the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah at CM House Karachi today and exchanged their views on issue of mutual interest.

The other participating member include, Education Minister AJ&K Mian Abdul Waheed, Minister Works & Services Choudhry Muhammad Rasheed, Minister Social Welfare Ms. Farzana Yaqoob, Minister Food Javiad Budhanvi, Chairman Bagh Development Authority (BDA), Sardar Rasheed Qamar, Ex-Minister AJ&K Sardar Muhammad Hussain.

Discussing on the current issue of flood at different parts of the country including the Sindh Province, the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qiam Ali Shah said that the Irrigation experts have roughly estimated that about 7 lac cusic flood flow would pass from the River Indus to sea. He said that we the Sindh Government were ready to face the flood flow even more than estimated by experts he added. He said that in 2010, these experts had estimated the flood flow up to 09 lac cusec and added that at that time I had disagreed with them and predicted more water and finally we had received flow of 13 lac cusec flash flood, that had devastated the whole right bank areas of the Sindh Province. He said that we have that experience and we have adopted the precautionary measures to face the flash flood even more than 07 lac cusec in the River Indus. He said that he himself have visited the vulnerable sites / embankments of the River Indus and flood protecting bands to monitor the ongoing banks strengthen works.

He said that he has passed strict instructions to Irrigation Department and all other stakeholders to ensure that high flood flow even more than 07 lac cusec should be passed and disposed of into sea without causing any loss of life and property. He said that we have to look after 1380 miles long River Indus embankments as such the Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has directed to all PPP MNAs MPAs and Leaders to remain within their jurisdictions, ensure extensive monitoring of the embankments and extend their full support to the flood fighting engineers. Responding a question the Chief Minister Sindh said that the Sindh has one of the best Irrigation system in the world, our whole economy is depending on this system as such we consider it as life line for our people and we are also to care it at such volume of importance. He said that though some breaches up stream in Punjab Province has reduced the pressure of water to some extend but still Sindh to attend high flood and we have made our preparation to meet it with success. He said that some time, all of sudden, the River Indus swollen due to the hill torrential of Koh-Suleman and it posing threat of flood. He said that we are calculating these all possible threats and making the preparedness as par the volume of challenge. Expressing his sorrow over the flood devastation in Punjab and difficulties of the people of Punjab the Chief Minister Sind said that we are standing with the people of Punjab in this difficult time and we have provided Rs. 100 million for their relief. The Sindh Minister parliamentary affairs Dr. Sikandar Mendhro, MPA Abdul Sattar Rajpar, Secretary to CM Alamdin Bullo and other officers from Sindh Government were also present on the occasion.
