KARACHI: The Council of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) in its 257th meeting has elected Yacoob Suttar as its President for the year 2014-15.
The Council also unanimously elected Syed Najamul Hussain as Vice President-South and Mohammad Maqbool as Vice President-North.
Yacoob Suttar is a fellow member of ICAP qualifying in 1985. He remained associated with Engro Chemical in various roles for 17 years before joining PSO in 2005. He joined Asia Petroleum in 2013 where he is serving as the Managing Director and CEO.
Suttar has been serving the Council for the last 5 years and was the Vice President South in 2012-13. He has remained the Chairman of ICAP Professional Accountants in Business (PAIB) Committee while serving on Executive Committee, Examination Committee and Human Resource Committee.
He is also member of PAIB Committee of International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) where he has been nominated as Deputy Chairman for the year 2015.
He served as Chairman Accounting Standards Committee and Member Executive Committee, Education and Training Committee, Quality Assurance Board, Professional Standards & Technical Advisory
Committee, Small and Medium Practices Committee, and Overseas
Coordination Committee. He has also worked as Member and Chairman of various task forces of the Institute. He has authored various books for CA students including solutions of past papers of CA exams since 1986.
Meanwhile, the President Lasbela Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Vice President FPCCI, Ismail Suttar, former Vice President FPCCI, Maqsood Ismail, Chairman Board of Investment, Miftah Ismail and President FPCCI Zakria Usman have felicitated Yacoob Suttar on becoming president ICAP.
