K-IV 650 MGD AND FUTURE PROJECTS.
ON TUESDAY, THE PUBLIC HEARING ON ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT” of K-IV PROJECT BY KW&SB DISCUSSION.
ON THE OCCASION, Speakers highlighted about the Salient features, according to them presently Karachi is drawing 1200 cusecs (650MGD) approved quota of water from Indus River which is not sufficient to meet the present demand of the 20 million population of Karachi.
They further told that the ever increasing water demand of Karachi needs allocation of another 1200 cusecs of water to meet the need for the next 20 years, so that the Government of Sindh has allocated 485 cusecs (260 MGD) additional water quota for the 1st phase of K-IV project speaker told.
K-IV Project will provide a definite relief to the existing localities through augmentation of network at appropriate places. All future development in Karachi will also be linked with K-IV project among Development along Northern Bypass, Education City, Taiser Town, Shah Latif Town, Hawksbay Scheme 42, KDA Scheme 33, DHA City along Super Highway, BAHRIA TOWN, Industrial Estates, Water Front Development projects etc.
