81 persons dead, 45 injured in recent floods: NDMA

ISLAMABAD: At least 81 persons have dead and 45 injured, 1921 houses damaged and 793 villages and 294,425 persons have been affected across the country due to recent floods.
According to consolidated figures of national losses and damages by National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), eight people died in Balochistan with eight suffering injuries and 118 houses were damaged.
As many as 38 people died, 11 got injured and 493 houses were damaged in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa while 11 people died and 22 got injured with 479 houses damaged, 375 villages and 263,044 people were affected in Punjab.
As many as 244 villages were damaged and 31,381 people were affected in Sindh, 19 persons were killed, two were injured, 178 houses were damaged andseven villages were affected in Azad Jammu and Kashmir while five people were killed, two were injured, 653 houses were injured and 167 villages were affected in Gilgit Baltistan.
During the relief efforts, NDMA provided 2800 shelters and tents, 24 tons of rations and food packs, 20 rescue boats, 1500 tarpaulin and armed forces provided 249 shelters and tents and 168.52 tons rations and food packs.
In total, 28,096 shelters and tents, 1,378.69 tons rations and food packs, 195 relief camps, 80 medical camps and 299 rescue boats were provided.
As many as 172,016 people were evacuated and 1150 life jackets and 100 life rings were provided by armed forces and federal and provincial disaster management authorities.
