RAWALPINDI: The Pakistan Army killed a senior Al-Qaeda leader Adnan El Shukrijumah during raids in the South Waziristan Agency early on Saturday morning.
“In an intelligence borne operation top Al-Qaeda leader Adnan El Shukrijumah was killed by Pakistan Army in an early morning raid in Shinwarsak, South Wazirastan today,” the statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR)said.
The statement further stated that Shukrijuma had moved in this area to hide in a compound from North Waziristan Agency due to the ongoing Zarb-e-Azb operation.
“His accomplice and local facilitator were also killed in the raid,” the statement added.
The statement said Adnan el Shukrijuma was a member of the core Al-Qaeda leadership and was in charge of all external operations of Al-Qaeda. During the raid, a soldier was also killed and another injured.
Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif appreciated the raiding team for conducting successful operation and said that the forces will chase and eliminate all the terrorists from the soil, and none will be spared.
The Pakistan Army had launched Operation Zarb-e-Azb in June against foreign and local terrorists who were hiding in sanctuaries in North Waziristan.
