NO WATER FOR ABLUTION: WASA SELLS OUT TO TANKER MAFIA

BY ABBAS KASSAR
HYDERABAD:
The citizens of Hyderabad, Latifabad and Qasimabad were not being supplied water for drinking since last one month when federal state minister Abid Sher Ali had ordered to suspend the supply of power to pumping stations of WASA/H D A. But the situation has taken alarming shape in Qasimabad where not only there is no water being supplied to households but even there is no water for ablution in mosques. The other parts are getting some water but authorities have blacked out Qasimabad. It was deplorable that Wasa was selling out water meant for public to tanker mafia which in return is selling water to those who afford to pay high cost of water but the majority which cannot afford to get water from tankers are compelled to purchase it for drinking purpose only from shop keepers and were passing difficult time with no water at all.
Meanwhile Insan Dost Tehrik has lamented that Sindh government, Hyderabad Development Authoiry and Wasa have turned Hyderabad into Karbala. In a statement chairman of IDT Muhammad Arif Qaimkhani, Malik Ramzan, Abdul Rahim Chandrigar, Zubair Arain, Maqsood Sunar,Nooruddin Arain, Asif Qaimkhani and Junaid Jabbar said the citizens are waiting for a drop of water but the ministers, advisors and officers have turned their ear. They said that even there was no water in mosques for ablution. They alleged that corrupt officers were eroding Wasa and H.D.A. They said that water filter plants installed with millions of rupees were in shabby condition and turned as habitat of dogs. The situation has made life of citizens difficult.
