Shahnaz Sheikh Hockey Stadium to be ready in Dec-2015

ISLAMABAD: Olympian Shahnaz Sheikh said that the Hockey Stadium at the Muslim School Rawalpindi will be completed by the end of this year and the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) will be granting a domestic tournament that will be played in December there.
Talking to APP, Sheikh, who is also the national team coach, said that it was decided in a meeting held at the stadium last week that the stadium would be completed in December. “I have also asked the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) to grant us a domestic tournament that will be played here at the stadium after its completion,” he said.
Sheikh said the Green Field Company (GFC) which provided asrto-turf for the 2014 World Cup in Holland will be laying the turf in the Stadium. “The contract for laying of the asrto-turf has been given to GFC,” he said.
Sheikh said that the construction of 3000 sitting capacity pavilion, building for players, changing rooms, washrooms and other necessities for the project are in plan to be done before December.
“Once the proposed stadium gets complete, I believe a lot of hockey lovers would come here to play,” he said.
