Rs30 mn prize bonds of SBP stolen from Karachi Express

KARACHI: Over Rs30 million prize bonds of State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) were stolen from the Karachi Express en route to Karachi from Lahore.

According to Railway sources, 10 boxes of SBP were being transported via Karachi Express and one of them was stolen.

The sources said the train arrives in Karachi at 12:00 midnight, however, on Friday it arrived at 2:00AM.

The sources said a sub inspector was found unconscious at Cantt washing area, adding other police personnel on security got off the train in Hyderabad.

According to the SBP, the bank had the numbers of prize bonds which have been cancelled.

Meanwhile, the Karachi Police Chief has constituted a three-member team tasked with ascertainment of a police station under whose jurisdiction the incident took place.
