LAHORE: An active monsoon weather system is affecting upper catchment of river Jhelum which may cause High to Very High flood in river Jhelum at Mangla (upstream) ranging between 150,000 to 300,000 cusecs during next 12 hours.
According to Flood Forecasting Division Lahore, River Indus may also attain Medium to High flood at Tarbela (upstream) ranging between 490,000 to 550,000 cusecs during next 24 hours while at Kalabagh it may attain High flood level ranging between 550,000 cusecs to 600,000 cusecs during next 24 hours.
River Indus at Chashma is also likely to attain High flood level ranging between 550,000 cusecs to 600,000 cusecs during the period from 0100 PST of July 28, 2015 to 0100 PST
of July 29, 2015.
The office has directed all the departments concerned to take precautionary measures. According to met office, strong monsoon currents which entered before two days in upper parts of Pakistan, may cause of widespread rains-thundershower in Upper Punjab (Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Gujranwala and Lahore divisions) during next 24 hours.
Strong Monsoon Currents are likely to penetrate in southern parts of the country from Monday to Thursday and widespread rains with scattered heavy at times very heavy falls in Southern Punjab (D.G.Khan, Multan and Bahawalpur divisions) during next 72 hours, the office informed.
