PPP leadership involve in the pre-election rigging practices: PML-N candidate for NA-202

SHIKARPUR: Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Jatoi the PML-N candidate for National Assembly Seat NA-202 Shikarpur-I has allegedly said that PPP leadership was involved to exercise the untoward practice of rigging to achieve the success of it’s PPP candidate Aftab Shahban Mirani during the re-election being held on 21 disputed polling stations of NA-202 Shikarpur-I constituency on May-06-2014 like as the PPP rulers and their all elected MNAs and MPAs had interfered in re-polling process held on the same 21 polling stations in 2008 and got the PPP candidate Mr. Mirani succeeded through rigging under the support of the PPP rulers.
This he stated while addressing the press conference held at Jatoi House here in Shikarpur on Saturday evening.
Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Jatoi while blaming on PPP candidate has said that the PPP rulers had made the strategy of rigging while deputing the 19 SSPs and they started the harassment to the dewellers of the 21 polling stations and the voters on pretext checking the documents of vehicles.
Dr. Jatoi also expressed his dis-satisfication over the security measures being made by the police and District Administrations to ensure the peaceful and congenial situation during the re-polling process on 21 polling stations without occurring any untoward incident on the occasion. And Dr. Jatoi said that he has already submitted an Application to the Election Commission of Pakistan for Deployment of Pak Army during the polls as to ensure the peace and calm. But no any response was given till now.
However he has demanded of Election Commission for Deployment of Army personnel at the inside and outside of the all 21 polling stations inorder to enable the voters to avail the due security as they feeling the fear of insecurity in the areas during the polls.
Besides the PML-N candidate Dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Jatoi has also demanded of Election Commission and the District and Police Administration to disallow the non-concerned people to enter the polling stations and do not use of Government Machinery by present rulers in the larger interests of free and fair re-election to be conducted on the said polling stations.
It may be recalled that the PML-N candidate dr. Muhammad Ibrahim Jatoi was declared as a successful by Election Commission against the 56633 votes obtained by him with the difference of 1252 votes when the PPP opponent candidate Aftab Shahban Mirani had secured 55381 votes in total in last 11-May 2013 General Election.
The PPP defeated candidate Mr. Mirani had filed applications in Election Tribunal Sukkur and faced legal proceedings of the Tribunal and Sindh High Court against the results declared by Election Commission in favour of PML-N candidate Dr. Jatoi.
According to Mr. Mirani that the rigging was made in the election at 21 polling stations by PML-N candidate Mr. Jatoi on NA-202 Shikarpur-I constituency from where he was contesting election.
The Election Commission of Pakistan in the light of the decision of Election Tribunal Sukkur and the NADRA report ordered to conduct re-election on above said 21 disputed polling station in NA-202 Shikarpur-I constituency on May-6-2014.
According to District Returning Officer Shikarpur sources, all the arrangements required for re-polling at 21 polling stations were completed. While the election material would be supplied to the Election Staff at their polling stations on Monday inorder to conduct re-polling process as per scheduled programme on May-6-2014 from 08:00 A.M to 05:00 P.M. When more than 23951 registered voters would avail the right of votes to be polled.
While according to SSP Shikarpur Altaf Ahmed Leghari, 3200 police officials and police men were deployed at the 21 polling stations to meet the security purpose during the polling process.
Besides the strength of 300 Rangers was also arranged in support the police to check the movement of the miscreants in the areas during the polls.
