LARKANA: Rising water at Guddu continued flooding low-lying areas as well 300 villages eroding Shaink-Band at Ghotki, that was maintained and plugged by 140 Pakistan Army Jawan since 24 hours, mild to moderate flood water entered hundreds of villages of Katcha areas in Sukkur, Khiarpur and Larkana.
A large number of displaced populations in Katcha areas stranded at the mercy of local administration and other authorities they complained, the administration failed to maintain or set up tent cities already provided Tents, boats, water tanks machines mosquito nets and other necessities by the PDMA.
Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) issued directives to the concerned authorities at Dadu, Shaheed Benazirabad, Naushehroferoze, Matiari, Tando Mohammed Khan, Jamshoro, Hyderabad, Thatta, Sijawal and Badin for rescue operations, in this regard Pak Navy team has been deployed for the expected flood threats PDMA told.
On Wednesday, the Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah further visited Ghotki and Khairpur districts to monitor and review arrangements by local administration and irrigation department at River Indus embankments.
He also visited Zero-point Bacha bund and Ilra-Jagir Bacha bund near Pir-jo-Goth, distributed food and relief goods among the affecttees, where a high level mismanagement and inefficiency was observed on the occasion.
Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, while talking to media persons in Khairpur said that Government of Sindh is trying its best and using all potential resources to help flood affectees, Shaink Bund near Ghotki saved by the Pak Army efforts due to vulnerable situation, while all other dykes are intact and presently no danger he said.
Qaim praised the role of Pak Army; Rangers and Police personnel are alert on sensitive dykes. People of Katcha areas were already warned to leave their places and stuck families will be helped by deployed forces, he added.
It is noted that different water borne diseases have been spread particularly at isolated places and population suffering with cattle’s in the Katcha areas of River Indus till the high flood situation.
There is different width of Indus River throughout; some areas have about 100 Kilometers, some places 30 and 10 Kilometers width from Ghotki to tail-end province, more over the centered islands have been established and hundreds of acre harvesting is in mid of the River Indus by the influential landlords and Sardars experts told.
The Sukkur Barrage was revamped before 2010 super flood by Pak Army/FWO, which sustained heavy deluge about 13 to 14 million cusec water passed through, which was a success after 80 years its construction.
