ISLAMABAD: An extraordinary meeting of Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) congress will be held here at a local hotel on Thursday in which recently nominated President PHF Brig. (Retd) Khalid Khokhar will get vote of confidence.
“The meeting was required to be called as per PHF constitution after the resignation of Akhtar Rasool,” according to a facsimile of the invitation to congress members, unofficially available here on Tuesday.
According to article 12.11 of PHF constitution one-third congress members can call a meeting in case a president resigns. Akhtar Rasool had tendered his resignation on August 19 and on that very day Khokhar was nominated new PHF president by the chief patron of PHF, Prime Minister of Pakistan.
As per rules if PHF’s congress fails to meet within fourteen days after the resignation of PHF president, the PHF chief patron, under article 15, has the authority to confirm the nomination of the president.
According to sources invitations letters had been sent to around 100 delegates to attend the congress meeting. “Only those delegates will be admitted to the meeting who hold bona-fide representation from their respective district hockey association or department according to PHF record,” the sources added.
