Need to awareness of citizens to avoid Naegleria & Dengue

Regarding treatment of potable water to avoid Naegleria, people should take precautionary measures in underground and overhead water tanks by proper filtration with chlorination against health hazardous. This was disclosed by the authorities while in a press briefing by Commissioner Karachi Shoib Ahmed Siddiqui.
Chief Engineer (E&M)/Focal person Karachi Water & Sewerage Board Noor Mohammed Chohan told media men that they have observed 40 water chlorine samples tests in different areas of metropolitan among 31 found satisfactory and rest of 9 samples showing nill he told.
Focal person further told that common men in the homes underground and overhead tanks should be maintain chlorination process by 75 ml of sodium hypo chlorine in 1000 gallon water tank, while sodium tri chloride Iso cynic acid tablets 10 gms for 1000 gallon maintenance must be repeated.
Commissioner Karachi Shoib Siddiqui and other officials said the people should clean their houses underground & overhead tanks quarterly. KW&SB maintains all six major filter plants monthly with chlorination process among these are COD Hills filter plant by 70 cylinders, NEK-2, NEK old, Pipri 35 and Gharo filter plants maintain by 7 cylinders in a month they told.
According to the KW&SB further sodium hypo chloride added for boosting purpose at various 14 pumping stations among NIPA, Sakhi Hasan, LSR-1, Hasan Squire, LR-2 Hasssan Squire University reservoir 1 and 2, Feature Colony Landhi, Korangi-5 ½ and COD filter plant and Lyari Chamber they told.
Later, officials also discussed Dengue update and precautions by spray in the different areas. The health sector also told that 462 cases are reported since January 2015 in Sindh.
