KARACHI: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has formally initiated probe into alleged corruption and financial irregularities worth Rs 1.04 billion in Sindh Police, on Wednesday.
According to the details, allegedly more than 70 officials of Sindh Police pocketed more than Rs 1 billion in 2014 and 2015. The amount includes funds reserved for police uniforms and cash rewards given by the government.
The accountability bureau will probe utilization of funds issued for electricity billing, petrol supply, purchase of vehicles, stationery, furniture and different fixtures.
The department will also investigate usage of funds provided for construction and renovation of different buildings.
Sindh government has expressed resentment over NAB’s actions in the province numerous times.
