MUMBAI: Mumbai Indians defended a total of 187 to beat Bangalore by 19 runs at Wankhede Stadium in an IPL match on Tuesday.
Batting first Mumbai Indians got to a very competitive total of 187 in their 20 overs with the help of some good innings from skipper R.Sharma (59) and K.Pollard (43). CM Gautam also contributed 30. Bangalore gave away 25 extras.
Bangalore started the chase well with a first wicket stand of 53. But then kept on losing wickets which made it difficult for the batsmen to maintain a high run rate.
Only V.Kohli (35) and C.Gayle (38) were able to make some decent contributions for the losing side.
JJ Bumrah, Harbhajan Singh and L.Malinga took 2 wickets each for 22, 33 and 29 runs respectively.
R.Sharma was later declared player of the match.
