Memon says, FIR to be lodged against attack on Hamid Mir

KARACHI: Sindh Information Minister, Sharjeel Memon says a First Information Report (FIR) of the attack on Hamid Mir will be lodged once the Geo News anchor regains consciousness and records his statement.
Speaking to reporters after visiting Hamid Mir at Aga Khan Hospital, Memon said they did not want to lodge a FIR hurriedly and ruin the case. He added that the provincial government did not want to register a case against unknown persons.
The provincial information further said he was in contact with Hamid Mir’s family and would consult them before an FIR was lodged. According to Memon some evidence of the attack had been gathered and he had written to Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar for assistance.
Later on, he said that footage showing Hamid Mir at the airport was available with the authorities.
He, however, claimed that ‘link went down’ where the senior journalist was attacked on Shahra-e-Faisal.
