RIYADH: A major terror plot by a militant group with links to extremist elements in Syria and Yemen was thwarted, Saudi Arabia’s Interior Ministry said Tuesday.
Al Arabiya News reported that 62 suspected members of the militant group were arrested with a majority of them Saudis. The Interior Ministry in its statement added that a Palestinian, Yemini and Pakistani were also apprehended.
The statement further said authorities were pursing 44 more alleged members of the militant group which had planned to carry out “wide-scale assassinations” and targeting “government and foreign interests.”
