KARACHI: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Sindh, Ghulam Haider Jamali has directed police officials to take extraordinary security measures in the province especially in the mega city on Independence Day-August 14.
According to a communiqu on Monday, the IGP asked for preparing lists with the coordination of organizers of schools, colleges and other educational institutions who will make arrangements in connection with Independence day celebrations, at Mazar-e-Quaid, recreational places and at various public places to provide proper security cover.
District SSPs will directly monitor the situation and SDPOs will ensure the presence of SHOs in their areas and take briefing from the deployed police contingents.
Jamali has ordered for concerted security steps at sensitive installations, airports, railway stations, bus terminals, important flyovers, underpasses, five star hotels, food chains, consulates, residence of ambassadors, important government and private offices, shopping centres and arteries.
Effective Police mobile and motorcycle patrolling be done on the surroundings of special celebrations on Independence day. Moreover, through the random snap checking, picketing and blockade strict measures be taken against criminal elements.
Traffic police also on the special occasion of independence day through the proper strategy will take steps not only for smooth flow of vehicles but also ensure alternative routes.
