HUJ AGAINST MERGER, ALLIANCE OF PFUJ (DASTOOR) WITH BARNA, DECIDES TO MAINTAIN OWN STATUS

Hyderabad Union of Journalists (Dastoor) has decided in its emergency governing body meeting held here Saturday in favour of maintaining separate status of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (Dastoor) and against its merger or alliance with any other group including PFUJ,Barna. Emergency meeting was called to discuss the letter sent by federal general secretary of PFUJ Rifat Qadri seeking opinion of HUJ on the above options. The governing body which was chaired by president HUJ Farhan Affendi was briefed by general secretary Ghulam Abbas Kassar about the contents of letter.
The governing body was of the view that PFUJ (Dastoor) was principled organization as such decision of one man cannot be imposed on it. HUJ was actively working for welfare of journalists of whole interior Sindh. The office bearers and members said Barna group was divided into 2 on ethnic basis while Dastoor group has national character which it should maintain at all costs. The meeting requested PFUJ ( Dastoor) to remove president from office and membership who took decision single handedly for merger without taking federal union into confidence.
