Growers protest against illegal constructions on banks canal

DADU: Protest of Kakol canal growers continues against illegal construction on the banks of Kakol canal in Mehar town on Saturday. Growers warned not to go their homes till the resolution of this issue.

Growers were led by Meer Khoso, Ghulam Sarwar Sodhar, Sikander Sodhar, Mashooque Bhatti, Umar Teevno, Qasim Khaskheli, Ameer Mahesar and others.

Talking to this reporter, Meer Khoso told that due to the illegal construction on the banks of Kakol canal, it became narrow and tail-end growers are facing acute shortage of water. He told that over than 40,000 acres of 90 villages of Mehar taluka became barren at the tail of Kakol canal. He further told that Kakol canal growers have been protesting since April but niether provincial nor federal or any other government department took notice of this serious issue.

Growers of Kakol Canal demanded from Chief Justice of Pakistan, Chief Justice of Sindh High Court, DG NAB, DG Rangers to take suo moto actions of this serious issue and direct concerned authorities to remove illegal construction on the banks of Kakol canal.

On that occasion, Lawyers of Mehar Bar including Advocate Khalid Azad Jatoi, Advocate Saeed Panhwer, Advocate Aijaz Chandio and Advocate Khush Muhammad Khoso, reached at Kakol canal growers protest sit-in and supported the cause of poor farmers, peasants and growers who are struggling against the illegal construction on the banks of Kakol canal.

12TH ANNIVERSARY OF SHAHEED JOURNALIST OBSERVED

The 12th death anniversary of Shaheed journalist Ameer Bakhsh Brohi was observed here at Shikarpur Press Club on Saturday morning.
The large number of journalists came from all the Taluka of District Shikarpur participated in the function managed by Shikarpur Press Club to express the tributes to Shaheed Ameer Bakhsh Brohi.
The senior journalist Ameer Bakhsh Brohi was shot dead by some armed men during his duties some twelve years ago on 3rd October 2003 when he was on way to his office after meeting with Police officials at New Fujdari road.
After Fatiha Khuwani the general meeting of the participants was held under the chair of Rahim Bakhsh Jamali the president of Shikarpur Press Club.
The journalists while expressing with tributes to Shaheed Ameer Bakhsh Brohi on his journalistic services and pray to Almighty Allah to rest him in eternal peace have demanded of government of Sindh to provide financial assistants to the victim family of Shaheed Brohi.
They have also demanded of government to ensure the legal protection to the journalists as to enable them to discharge their professional services without feeling the sense of insecurity in their areas as well as to allocate the quota system in jobs to be provided to the dependant family male and female members of the journalists community and the group insurance facilities to be provided to the journalists including compensation and financial assistants to the victim families of the journalists who were murdered or expired in nature during their duties.
Earlier, the journalists went to the graveyard where they offered Fatiha on the grave of Shaheed journalist Ameer Bakhsh Brohi and showered the flower petals on his grave.

VILLAGER KILLED, 3 INJURED IN FIRING

A villager was killed and three other villagers sustained bullet injuries in firing during exchange of fires between two groups of Jeneja tribesmen at village Izat-g-Wandh near Madeji town in the limits of Gaheja Police Station here on Saturday morning.
As per details, a villager identified as Wahab Juniejo was killed and other three villagers identified as Sananullah Junejo, Ismail Junejo and third villager’s name could not be ascertained sustained bullet injuries during exchange of firing between two groups of Juneja tribesmen.
The motive behind the incident said to be a patty matter and both the parties are residents of same village.
Area police reached on the spot and handed over the body of the deceased to his heirs after having conducted post-mortem examination from Taluka Hospital Madeji.
An FIR was not registered till this news was filed.

PMLN WORKERS DECIDED TO PROTEST IN FRONT OF CENTRAL LEADERSHIP

The senior workers and former members of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Shikarpur chapter held a press conference and announced protest demonstration in front of PML-N Central General Secretary Zafar Iqbal Jhagra, Muhammad Ismail Rahoo and other provincial, central leadership on the eve of “Workers Convention” which will be held 5th October at Shikarpur here on Saturday.
Addressing to the press conference former district president Shikarpur Dewan Bolchand, Muhammad Siddique Brohi, Ali Ahmed Malik, Hadi Bux Rajar, Pirem Chand, Gada Hussain Soomro, Asghar Arain, Asif Mirani, Abdul Ghaffar Malik and other said that PML-N senior workers have been affixed to the wall and favorable person has been appointed as district president which is condemnable act and also is a conspiracy to the party therefore the activists of PMLN are anxious in such condition.
Furthermore we have decided to initiate protest demonstration in front of Provincial and central leadership so that the activists of PMLN could solve their legal demands.

COPS ARRESTED

An First Information Report (FIR) lodged against 3 police constables on the complaint of Naseer ul Uddin Kamangar the brother of deceased Ustad Saleem Kamanger at Lakhi Gate Police Station while police have arrested nominated three cops here on Thursday late night.
As per details, three police constables including Head Constable Imdad Aka Commando Brohi of CIA Shikarpur, Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Dadan Jalbani had arrested Ustad Saleem Kamangar on the Eidul Azha night on the simple matter of faulty remote control device which was purchased by Imdad Aka Commando Brohi some couple of weeks ago from the shop of Kamangar, Imdad Brohi came to Kamangar’s shop and after some arguments he called his two other police constables and Kamangar was forcibly picked up to Lakhi Gate Police Station where who subjected to torture after passage of some time Kamangar’s condition was critical due to heart attack and he was shifted to Haji Moula Bux (HMB) Hospital by their relatives but he was died.
On the directives of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shikarpur Nasir Aftab Khattak an FIR was registered against involved police men on the charges of misuse of powers, torturing and threats to citizen, while police have taken to involved police men into their custody.
Later, SSP Shikarpur Nasir Aftab Khattak arrived at the house of Kamangar for condolence while expressed deep sorrow on demise of Kamangar with the heirs of Kamangar while assured them for providing justice.

SACKED WORKERS DHARNA ON GATE OF UNITED TEXTILE MILLS FOR REINSTATEMENT

Sacked 46 workers of Untied Textile Mills Site Hyderabad staged sin in before main gate of the factory condeming action of their retrenchment and contract system and demanding to be taken back on work. The dharna was led by SNP labour wing leaders Khadim Baloch and Akhtar Sindhi which was also attended apart from sacked workers the workers of SNP and other factories workers. The labour leaders said that mill management has without reason sacked 46 workers and has handed all workers to contractors only to avoid payment of social security, old age benefit and other facilities enjoined by workers under labour law.They said the sacked workers were protesting since last 24 days but the mill owner and management and also labour department has taken no notice of economic murder of 46 worker families who were compelled to starvation even during Eid days. They alleged that labour department has been ignoring the atrocities of mill owners for sake of bribery they are getting from mill owners. They said they had given 10 to 15 years to mill but the owner has handed workers to contractors who was sucking their blood. They warned if the mill owner did not take them back on work and did not end contract system they would commit collective self immolation in front of mills gate.
