DENIAL OF SAFETY PRINCIPLES CAUSE OF INCREASE IN ACCIDENTS

HYDERABAD: Safety seminar was held here under auspices of All Pakistan Hydero Electric Workers Union which was largely attended by Hesco employees and officers.
The seminar was chaired by Wapda workers union president Abdul Latif Nizamani and CEO Hesco Saleem Jaat was chief guest. Others who attended were director HR Imran Askari, chief engineer Umed Ali Qureshi, SE-1 Raham Ali Otho, PD Najam Ali Abro, director legal Laung Khan Jakhrani, deputy director safety Nabi Shah,Sadiq Kubar, Fahim Memon, while on behalf of workers union Iqbal Qaimkhani, Iqbal Ahmed Khan, Malik Sultan Ali, Azam Khan,Farooq Changezi, Hanif Khan Waheed Pathan and others attended.
Addressing seminar Nizamani said FIA was sent to help employees recover the dues but it was harassing them and interfering in their work due to which the employees were feeling embarrassed and often times it becomes cause of accidents.
He asked to mend ways of FIA and that said it was need of hour that a burn ward for accident victim employees be set up in Wapda hospital.
He criticized administration of Wapda hospital adding that due to carelessness of doctors and dearth of standard medicines employees prefer to go to other hospitals like Hilal Ahmer, Rajputana etc. He demanded that Karachi’s Agha Khan hospital,National Hospital and National Institute of cardiovascular diseases be taken on panel of Wapda employees. Employees of 55 years and above be exempted to mount on poles.
CEO Hesco Saleem Jaat lauded efforts of workers union for arranging seminar on safety to create awareness among employees and said that in coastal belt private persons were working in place of Wapda employees who were used to close and open lines for their benefit, these people shall have to be stopped.
He said the accidents can be reduced by following the safety principles. Iqbal Qaimkhani and others also addressed the seminar.
