QAMBER-SHAHDADKOT: Sindh Rural Support Organization (SRSO) held a ceremony to inaugurate Adult Literacy Center at village Ghazi Khan Chandio, Union Council Rahuti, district Qambar- Shahdadkot on Friday.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Qambar- Shahdadkot Asadullah Abro, Acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) SRSO, G.M Abro, Jamil Soomro, Ms Nasreen Naz, Najaf Shah, Naimat Shaikh and many notables of the area attended the ceremony.
At this occasion, Deputy Commissioner, Asadullah Abro inaugurated Literacy Center of SRSO in village Ghazi Khan Chandio, UC Rahuti, district Qambar- Shahdadkot.
While addressing the gathering, the DC said that SRSO is being play its vital role in connection to “Education For All” adding that the over 50 closed schools have been reopened while SRSO works in close collaboration with the provincial government of Sindh. In this regard, the officials of the education departments and SRSO are coordinating with each other.
Talking about status of education in the country, he said that District Government of Qmabar-Shahdadkot and SRSO will work together for the promotion literacy in the district.
Speaking to the ceremony, DC said that education helps men and women claim their rights and realize their potential in economic, political and social arenas. It is also the single most powerful way to lift people out of poverty adding that education plays a particularly important role as a foundation for girls’ development towards adult life.
He said it should be an intrinsic part of any strategy to address the gender-based discrimination against women and girls that remains prevalent in many societies.
At the inauguration ceremony, CEO (Acting) SRSO, GM Abro said that his orgnization would set up more Non Formal Community Centers with focus on increasing literacy rate, especially of women folk and in rural areas of the Sindh.
He said that the object of this center is also to create awareness among people that Adult Literacy is essential and is first step towards learning.
CEO GM Abro said that without access to education, these women and girls will never claim their rights and will never have the power to make their own choices, securing a life of dignity for themselves and their daughters adding that broken societies will never heal and economies never develop without education for all women and girls it is that simple, he said.
He said that the literacy is the ability to identify, understand, interpret, create, communicate and compute using printed and written materials associated with varying contexts adding that the literacy involves a continuum of learning to enable an individual to achieve his or her goals, to develop his or her knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in the wider society.
GM Abro further said that the literacy also helps to enhance the communication skills among the people adding that literacy also involves a continuum of learning to enable an individual to achieve his or her goals, to develop his or her knowledge and potential, and to participate fully in the wider society.
He said the level of poverty can also deny a female child education. Education for the girl child should be made compulsory and free at all levels. Public enlightenment must also be encouraged n areas where cultural discrimination and ignorance work against education for women, CEO maintained.
Later, the DC Asadullah Abro and CEO SRSO GM Abro distributed a set of books to the all female students of this center.
