GHOTKI: Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) temporarily seized the bank accounts of Town Committee Daharki due non payment of Rs4.5 million of Income Tax while Sukkur Electric and Power Company (SEPCO) also issued notices for the payment of outstanding electricity bills to Town Committee Daharki.
According to reports, FBR issued an official letter no. DCIR/WHT-UNIT-III/ZONE-I/GTK/423/2014-15, to Manager Sindh Bank Daharki and directed to hold funds for town committee transactions and debit the amount Rs4,529,999 from the account of Town Committee and issue pay order for the payment of income tax.
Seeking anonymity a reliable town official confirmed that Town Committee Daharki had received a Notice Of Demand Under Section 137(2) Of The Income Tax Ordinance, 2001 for payment of tax for the period of July 2012 to February 2013 amounting Rs4,529,999 but corrupt town officials did not paid the heed to the notice and ignored which resulted the seizing of town’s bank account twice. Later, in this regard the Town officer written a letter no. TCD/164 dated 27-03-2015 to FBR for fixing a monthly installment of income tax. Sources further confirmed that FBR twice seized the account of Town Committee Daharki which caused the delay in disbursement of salaries, while a monthly installment of Rs500000 was fixed for the payment of income tax.
Town official told to this media person that previous town officers made huge corruption and did not paid the income tax from the funds of town committee, every town officer had taken the office record with himself on transfer, no record is present in the office.
It was also reported that Town Committee is also defaulter of SEPCO; several bills for 11 different locations are not paid since several years while town officials succeeded to fix the monthly installment or Rs110,000 for each bill.

SHIKARPUR: Two chowkidars identified as Meer Hassan Marri and Aftab Shaikh of Government Chella singh Satram das (C&S) Degree College Shikarpur and one scrap dealer Khalil Ahmed Soomro have arrested on the allegation of Iron stealing from Government Chella singh Satram das (C&S) College Shikarpur on last midnight.
According to Station House Officer (SHO) Abdul Hameed Khakhrani police have arrested two chowkidars and one scrap dealer on a tip-off when who were loading the Iron of Government College worth of millions on private vehicle on last midnight.
He further said and added that on the behalf of Kewal Ram the professor of Chella singh Satram das (C&S) Degree college police have registered an FIR against them and further investigation is into the matter.
