KARACHI: The CM Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Monday telephoned Minister for Interior and Narcotics Control Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan to lodge protest over raids and alleged harassment by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) in Sindh.
Interior Ministry in a statement stated that the Minister told the Chief Minister that the recent powers given to Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) under law of Protection of Pakistan were not specific to Sindh only.
He said the basic purpose of powers given to FIA were meant to give it responsibility for investigation of those crimes which were international and inter provincial in nature and were outside the purview of the police of provinces.
Chaudhry Nisar said, “We respect provincial autonomy and no province should have reservations regarding this.”
