CJP vows to rid Karachiites of tanker mafia

KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP), Saqib Nisar vowed to rid the residents of Karachi of the menace of tanker mafia by saying that they must be provided clean drinking water at all costs.

The CJP took a case related to supply of potable drinking water and sanitation in Sindh for hearing on Thursday at the Apex Court’s Karachi Registry

.During hearing, the Sindh Water Commission presented its report, which was appreciated by the SC bench.

The Secretary for Water told the court that Manchar Lake provided 300 million cubic metres of water on annual basis.

While expressing displeasure, the CJP remarked that money is not being spent on the Lake as the state of water is deplorable.

He said that the court will monitor the progress in ensuring safe drinking water to the people.
