Bilawal visits Mir, assures full support

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto called on journalist and TV anchor Hamid Mir at the Agha Khan Hospital where he is being treated, a private TV channel reported on Tuesday.

Bilawal assured the injured anchorperson of his support for freedom of press and his organisation. He prayed for Mir’s early recovery and added that the PPP believed in the freedom of press and stands by Hamid Mir and his organisation.

Speaking to the media outside the hospital, Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that the police were jointly working with other agencies to probe the attack. He also said that some evidences have also been collected during the investigation.

Memon expressed hope that the elements involved in the attack would soon be arrested. He further said that a case would be registered by Wednesday. The channel reported that the condition of Hamid Mir was improving, while doctors have restricted visitors from meeting the journalist for the next three days.

Mir is in immense pain from his injuries and doctors are giving him medicine to deal with the pain. The medicine being given to Hamid Mir keeps him in a state of drowsiness, doctors said. There has been no decision to remove the three bullets which still remain lodged in Mir’s body.
