
Sindh govt slackness: An old man dies of nonpayment to depart on private boat in Katcha

KARACHI: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari along-with Sindh Chief Minster Syed Qaim Ali Shah and Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Khursheed Shah after high flood in River Indus at Guddu and Sukkur barrages visited flood-hit areas on Sunday.
For a week, flood water at Guddu and SukKur Barrages recorded over 7 lac cusecs, has inundated hundreds of villages in Katcha areas of Sukkur, Ghotki, Kashmore-Kandhkot, Shikarpur, Khairpur Mir’s Larkana, Naushehroferoze, Kotri, Jamshoro and other areas of province.
The situation in Katcha areas continued submerged villages and the population stranded, which resulting an old man Nazar Mohammed died due to nonpayment to depart on private boat in Katcha area of River Indus. All claims of Sindh government spell out thier inefficiency and lack of attention to resolve the issues of displaced people, despite of solar panels and lights, mosquito nets and tents cities were not observed yet in various locations and districts but few tents in remote parts.
Pakistan Peoples Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari was briefed by the Information and Irrigation senior Minister Nisar Ahmed Khoro and Secretary Irrigation Zaheer Haider Shah about current flood situation and the relief activities carried out in province.
The PPP Chairman asked Sindh Government to accelerate rescue and relief activities with proper attention. He also met people and distributed food items among the flood-affected people at the camps.
The Sindh Chief Minister said all arrangements have been completed to facilitate flood-affected people of Kacha area in Sindh.

CM sindh told relief operations were initiated earlier in Sindh’s flood-hit areas of Sukkur, Larkana, Khairpur, Kashmor and Ghotki, while over 500 villages in these districts have reportedly been submerged due to rising flood water in River Indus he said.
Meanwhile, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Zakaullah has also visited the flood-hit areas near Shaheed Benazirabad and review the rescue, relief activities here on Sunday.
Admiral Zakaullah talking to media on the occasion, he said more than 22,000 people including women and children have been evacuated from flood battered areas and shifted to safer places. He said services by the Pakistan Navy also continued in the flood hit areas by collection and distribution of relief goods he said.
According to the reports, more than 4,000 people have been rescued by the Pakistan Navy teams already deployed and providing services different locations of Shaheed Benazirabad, Khairpur, Sukkur, Pano Aqil, Larkana, Dadu and Badin during on-going flood relief operation since.
After rising water level in River Indus at Guddu, Sukkur, Larkana and other parts of province, over all villages have been submerged due to continued water flow of over 0.7 million cusecs and rise in barrages hit the Naushehroferoze-Nawabshah, Dadu and Jamshoro, over 100 more villages of Katcha areas have been submerged. The villages of Sehwan Sharif around 50 due to upstream and downstream to the Kotri more population have affected on the occasion.
The flood recorded in Indus River at Guddu 709503 cuseces 691029 cusecs downstream and Sukkur Barrages was recorded at 697135 cusecs and 647265 cusecs respectively on Sunday.
According to the data, high flood was recorded at Guddu and Sukkur and Kotri was 536000 cusecs of flood and downstream level 507853 cusecs, while, medium flood at Taunsa, Kalabagh and ow at Tarbela.
