ISLAMABAD: After the death of Mullah Omar, Afghan Taliban has appointed Mullah Akhtar Mansoor as the new Amir on Thursday.
According to the reports, the Afghan Taliban held meetings after the reported death of commander Mullah Omar.
After the consultation between all members of the Shura Council than Mullah Mansoor appointed as new commander.
Mullah Mansoor was previously Omar’s deputy, and was running the 20-member council after Omar’s death. He has the support taliban’s senior leadership.
Mansoor is also said to be in favour of peace talks with the Afghan government.
