KARACHI: Provincial minister for food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that food department Sindh has handed over almost 8 lac wheat bags free of cost to Relief department in drought-hit districts Tharparkar, Sanghar, Kachoo, Dadu, Thatta and Jamshoro and out of which 4 lac wheat bags have been given to drought-affected families. This he said while presiding over a meeting here in his office on Thursday. He said that in first phase 380,000 wheat bags had been provided to Sindh Relief Department from godowns of Mithi, Chachoro, Islamkot, Diplo and Nangarparkar while in 2nd phase 389918 wheat bags were being supplied and the said wheat would be given in three sub phases. Jam Mehtab added, In Kachoo and Dadu 7096 in Thatta 1800 while in Jamshoro 8338 wheat bags are being provided to Relief Department and in Sanghar and Khipro 32952 wheat bags were being supplied to famine affected families. Provincial minister food told that in Umerkot almost 60000 wheat bags were being distributed and the function of Food Department was to hand over wheat to relief department and it was its duty to distribute it.
