3 FOOD INSPECTORS SUSPENDS,720 WHEAT BAGS CONFISCATED

KARACHI: On the directives of Food Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, a special team of Food Department raided Hub Check Post last night and found that there were three food inspectors were on French leave. These three Food Inspectors Altaf Jatoi, Yasir Gabool and Ali Arshad Zaidi were suspended. Food Department has established check posts at various points to stop illegal movement of wheat to other provinces and staff have been deployed at these check posts that perform their duties round the clock. Beside this, 720 wheat bags were confiscated by Food Department at Jacobabad Check Post. These bags were allegedly being transported to Baluchistan under the lead of Head Constable Akbar. In a statement issued here on Tuesday, Minister for Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has issued directives to the officers and officials, those who are deployed at check posts, to perform their duties properly, in either case strict departmental action shall be taken against them. He added that seven check posts had been established at important points on Sindh – Baluchistan border to stop illegal transportation of wheat bags to other provinces and they were doing good job.

46133 WHEAT BAGS STOPPED TO BE TRANSPORTED TO OTHER PROVINCES

Karachi. April 07: On the directive of Food Minister Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar, the food department has stopped the illegal transportation of 46133 wheat bags to other provinces. According to details Food Department Sindh has stopped illegal movement of 12600 wheat bags from Mirpurkhas division, 22675 from Sukkur division, 4500 Kashmore and Jacobabad, 450 from Shaheed Benazirabad, 3900 from Badin and 2000 from Tando Muhammad Khan.

Provincial Minister for Food Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that the transportation of wheat to other provinces is prohibited under section 144 and procurement of wheat is in full swing in the province and so far Sindh Food Department has procured 2 lac 22 thousands and 915 wheat bags. He added ‘All Food Controllers are bound to provide jute bags to the growers and those who do not do so, will be brought to task’. Jam Mehtab told that Food Department would achieve its target of purchasing One Crore 30 lac wheat bags till 31st May.

He said, ‘There is complete ban on transfer and posting till the completion of procurement process and this ban has been imposed on the directives of Chief Minister Sindh’. ‘No corruption will be tolerated in the department and the help of Rangers is being sought to stop illegal transportation of wheat to other provinces’, he concluded
