QALA-I-NAW/HERAT CITY: Twenty three Taliban fighters were killed in an International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) separate drone strikes in the west of the country, officials said Sunday.
Twelve insurgents were killed and three others wounded in an overnight raid conducted in the Sang Yakhak locality on the outskirt of Qala-i-Naw, the capital of northwestern Badghis province, Sharafuddin Majidi, the governor’s chief of staff, told Pajhwok Afghan News.
Separately, eleven militants were killed and six others wounded in the second drone attack in the Obe district of western Herat province.
The attack took place Saturday night in the Naik locality, Governor Syed Fazlullah Wahidi added.
Taliban and ISAF have not yet commented on the attacks.
