Khuhro says 10,000 schools develop in Sindh under SSP

LARKANA:
Senior Provincial Minister Information and Education Sindh Nisar Ahmed Khuhro on Monday said that Education Department has initiated the School Specific Program (SSP) to develop 10,000 schools of Sindh, directed the concerned officials to ensure the reopening of 655 closed schools in Larkana, he expressed these notions while chairing the high level meeting with officials of Education Department of Larkana division here at Commissioner office.
Education minister held responsible to Officers and Clerks of Education Department behind the closed schools and ghost teacher issue and gave ultimatum to officials to reopen hundreds closed schools in Larkana within 15 days and ensure the educational activities, otherwise strict action will be taken against them, he said.
Mr Khuhro claimed that during the past two years his department has appointed 16000 to 17000 teachers through NTS on merit and made no any political appointment such step will enhance the standard of education and bring the positive results.
Education Minister told that there are 43000 primary schools in Sindh while number of middle schools is lesser than primary, efforts are underway to upgrade more primary schools into middle so that out of school children could be covered.
Nisar Ahmed Khuhro unearthed that there is lack of communication and coordination between the officers which led to the closure of schools and absence of teachers which is challenging task for education officers, he directed the education officials to ensure the transparency in utilization of SMC funds and other budget of schools.
Provincial Minister informed that his department under Sindh Text Book Board is publishing and distributing free text books worth of 2 billion among the students every year to facilitate the poor students in order to increase literacy rate.
On the occasion Commissioner Larkana Ghulam Akbar Leghari briefed the Provincial Minister Nisar Ahmed Khuhro about the prevailing conditions of education department in Larkana division and said that 655 government schools out of 5988 are closed.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioner Larkana Javed Ali Jagirani, Director Primary Schools, DEOs, TEOs and other concerned officials.

Head of Department (HOD) Cardiology Department CMC Larkana Professor Bashir Ahmed Shaikh told media that Famous Cardiologists and medical experts will be conduct the medical checkup and tests on the occasion and will provide the medicines.

Ancient artefacts discovered near Badin

Ancient artefacts and statues, reportedly dating back centuries, were discovered by the residents of village Vidhri Chak, near Shadi Large area of district Badin. The discovery came as a result of recent rains in the area which unearthed the artefacts on river Hakro’s dry riverbed. The artefacts are said to be influenced by Buddhist culture.
“Many of the statues and artefacts are made of brass, copper and ivory,” said Habib Lund, a villager who was part of the group which found the objects adding he said after finding a few pieces, a group of villagers from his village started excavations in the area and unearthed more statues and artefacts.
“We used to discover similar artefacts from the area and we request the government to start proper archaeological excavations at the site,” he added.
Local archaeologists and historians working in the Wango area told media that this place was the site of an ancient city which used to be the capital for lower Sindh and Thar. “This region was of prime importance and centuries ago acted as the center of various civilizations,” said Mashkoor Phalkaro, a local historian and researcher. Another historian, Abu Bakar Shaikh said that the objects discovered suggest that they are centuries old when Dravidian culture was predominant in the region.
Zulfiqar Kalhoro, along with other anthropologists and an archaeologist, told media that the artefacts discovered are of great importance and belong to the Buddhist religion. Area residents and local historians have requested the government to take over the site and start proper excavations to unearth the remains of the ancient capital.

BOY ELECTROCUTED

A 15 years old boy identified as Ashique Denari was electrocuted at village Deputy Bungalow in the limits of Garhi Yasin Police Station on Monday.
As per details, deceased Ashique Denari was came in contact an electric wire in home when he was playing.
As a result of accident he was died on the spot.
Later, he was laid to rest in his ancestral graveyard after offering funeral prayers.
A large number of the citizens attended his funeral prayer.

AN EIGHT YEARS BOY DIES IN ROAD MISHAP

SHIKARPUR:
An eight years old boy was died and his father sustained injuries in road accident at Sukkur-Shikarpur Indus highway in the limits of Lakhi Ghulam Shah Police Station on Monday noon.
As per details, a motorcyclist identified as Ghulam Sarwar Tanwari along with his an eight years old son identified as Anwar Ali son of Ghulam Sarwar Tanwari residential of Mian-jo-Goth was going to Sukkur while a tractor trolley fully loaded with husk coming from opposite direction collided with each other.
As a result of accident an eight years old boy Anwar Ali was died on the spot while his father sustained injuries.
Area police officials rushed on the spot and shifted the dead body of the deceased boy to Taluka Headquarter (THQ) Hospital Lakhi Ghulam Shah for post-mortem and injured for medical treatment.
The driver of the tractor trolley escaped away from the place of accident while leaving his tractor trolley on the road.
Area police have taken tractor trolley in their custody.
FIR was not registered till this news was filed.

BOOTLEGGER ARRESTED

Shikarpur police have claimed to arrest bootlegger and recovered narcotics items at Chingi graveyard in the limits of Sturt ganj Police Station here on Monday.
According to spokesperson of police has said that staurt ganj police conducted a raid at Chingi graveyard on tip-off and arrested a bootlegger identified as Nek Muhammad Pathan and seized 1000 grams hashish, 10000 grams Bhang, 100 bottles of wine and a TT Pistol.
Police have registered a case on the complaint of SHO Stuart ganj Pervaiz Mithani on behalf of stated under crime 135-136/2015 at Staurt ganj police station.
Further police investigation is under progress.
