Won’t tolerate threats from India: Khawaja Asif

ISLAMABAD: Defence Minister, Khawaja Asif Monday said Pakistan became part of a battle that was not its own and that mess created in the past is being cleared through military operation Zarb-e-Azb.

In a statement, Khawaja Asif said India wishes to suppress Pakistan to a certain level.

“We want cordial relations with New Delhi, but won’t tolerate its intimidating tone,” the Defence Minister stressed.

A few days back, Khawaja Asif came down hard on India, saying its intelligence agency RAW was created to destroy Pakistan and it cannot be taken as a light issue.

He went on to say that the interests of the Taliban and RAW are the same.

The Defence Minister further said that if India was actually sympathetic towards Pakistan with regards to the war on terror, it would refrain from creating tension on the border.

Today, he said the army has almost completed its operation in North Waziristan agency but added that presence of security forces will have to be maintained in the border region in the coming days to prevent regrouping of terrorists.

He said the violent mindset can only be countered and defeated through education.

Refering to today’s proceedings in the National Assembly, the The Defence Minister said except for Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) no other party objected to the extension of Army (amendment) Ordinance 2015.

He regretted that MQM exhibited a hostile demeanor in the assembly today. “It seems as if MQM wanted more incentives in exchange of its support to the amendment,” he added.

Earlier, the MQM had put its weight behind the Army (amendment) Ordinance 2015, said Khawaja Asif.
