US Senate passes $ 612 bln defence policy budget

WASHINGTON: The U.S. Senate approved $ 612 billion defence policy budget while President Barack Obama has threatened to use his veto power to shoot down the bill.
According to the details, 71 votes were cast in favor while 25 votes were cast against the bill that include issues pertaining to military assistance to Ukrainian army and arms supply to it and improving the planning of retirement of soldiers and women.
The house of representatives has already approved a bill of its own over this.
This Senate legislation would make it harder to close down Guantanamo Bay military jail.
