TTP involved in target killings of police personnel in Karachi

KARACHI: Karachi Police Chief Ghulam Qadir Thebo has disclosed that around 40 groups of banned outfit Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) are involved in target killings of police personnel in the metropolis.

Thebo said Orangi town is the hardest hit area, where policemen — taking part in Karachi operation — and personnel of LEAs are targeted. He said 22 personnel have been martyred since September 5 last year in this area.

He said target killing is taking place in reaction to North Waziristan and Karachi operations. Police have been put on high alerts after this.

Karachi police head further said a TTP group, hailing from Swat and headed by Abid Mochhar, has been targeted to hit police officials. He said the same group is also involved in kidnapping for ransom and extortion in the port city.
