RAWALPINDI: Trade bodies of the city are divided on the issue of strike against the imposition of 0.6 percent withholding tax on bank transactions.
President Anjuman Tajran, Shahid Ghafoor Paracha and vice president Pakistan Muslim League (N Punjab) traders wing announced to observe a strike on August 1, while the other group led by Sheikh Muhammad Siddique and headed by its Central president Khalid Pervaiz announced to observe strike on August 5.
“We will observe a shutter-down strike on August 1 on the call of Markazi Anjuman Tajiran of the country, led by Ajmal Baloch,” said Shahid Paracha while talking to APP. He said that our stance is to press the government immediately but the other group wants to give time to the government and has fixed August 5 for the strike, he said.
While the other group led by Sh Sidique claimed that the call of strike on August 5 was announced unanimously and blamed the Ajmal Baloch group for dividing the traders community.
