Aafia Movement Pakistan here Saturday announced that to remind the prime minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif his promise of help in release of the daughter of the nation, Dr Aafia Siddiqui, a three-day ‘Aafia Release Camp’ would be staged in Islamabad from June 15-17, 2015.
Innocent Aafia has been in the detention of America for last 12 years for the crimes she never committed but the outcry of human rights campaigners in whole world is still falling on deaf ears.
Rights activists, women, social and political leaders and civil society would participate in the three-day camp and urge the premier Nawaz Sharif to remember his promise with the mother of Aafia, Asmat Siddiqui, daughter Mariam and whole Pakistani nation regarding bringing the Pakistani mother back home.
On Saturday a delegation of civil society led by Faheemullah Khan left Karachi for Islamabad to participate in the Aafia release camp.
Talking to media, Faheemullah Khan said the constitution of Pakistan guarantees the protection of life, property and honor of every Pakistani and this is also the prime responsibility of the rulers. He said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif after coming into power had told clearly that he would take efforts to bring home Dr Aafia and the whole nation had warmly welcomed him. However, despite the passage of two years the PML-N government has not yet fulfilled this promise and the nation is concerned about this delay.
He regretted that the rulers are insensitive to the issue of Dr Aafia. He said for one year the telephonic contact of Dr Aafia with her children and ailing mother has been suspended and her family is worried about the health and life of Pakistani mother. He hoped that Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif would take efforts seriously regarding seeking early release and repatriation of Aafia which is the constitutional and moral responsibility of his government.
