Tail-end growers cry over acute shortage of irrigation water

A big number of growers of various branches originating from Dadu Canal, held demonstration in town on Wednesday to protest against the acute shortage of water.
Growers of Phakka, Jageer, Burira and other branches, carrying pla cards staged demonstration outside Dadu press club and raised slogans against Irrigation officials. Growers were led by Aftab Memon and Shabbir Lund.
Addressing to growers, Aftab Memon alleged that Irrigation officials were selling out their water share to others and were artificially creating scarcity of Irrigation water. He said that our crops drying but there is none to take action against those corrupt officials of Irrigation department. He said that they had been many times to Irrigation office but Irrigation officials remained absent for last one month.
They demanded from Chief Minister sindh, Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Chief secretary sindh, Sajjad saleem hottiyana and secretary irrigation, Babar Hussain Affendi to take notice of acute shortage of irrigation water at tail-end and direct concerned authorities to release their irrigation water from Dadu Canal.
