Six passenger bogies of Karachi bound Quetta Bolan Express were derailed near Madeji railway station on Tuesday morning.
Eight passengers were wounded as a result of 3-4 bogies were turned out.
The injured passengers including Iqbal Khakhrani, Mst Saima Jat, Mst Jaan Bibi Bahirani, Miss Dia Sariram, Mst Farhana Babar, Mst Sonia, Ahmed Khoso and Zameer Shaikh were referred to Rural Health Centre (RHC) Madeji and Taluka Headquarter (THQ) Lakhi Ghulam Shah Hospital for medical treatment. While the condition of the injured persons were reported out of danger.
According to Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railway Sukkur the incident was occurred due to week position of the Railway track affected by the Dadu Canal breach.
Soon after receiving the information of the railway incident the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shikarpur Saqib Ismail Memon stormed to the spot along with a big police contingent and controlled over the situation as well as took part in relief and rescue services. While the further relief work was carried out by the people of near by villages and the volunteers under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Shikarpur Hadi Bux Zardari, Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railway Sukkur Farukh Taimoor Gulzai, Former Nazim of District Government Shikarpur Muhammad Arif Khan Mahar and other railway officials who reached on the spot.
The affected passengers were managed to depart towards Quetta by five bogies attached with Akbar Bugti Express.
All the Karachi, Quetta railway traffic via Habib Kot railway Junction station were suspended till the affected railway track was repaired.
However according to Divisional Superintendent (DS) Railway Sukkur that the railway traffic on the affected tracks could not be restored till the breach of Dadu Canal was plugged and strengthened it to enable the railway authorities to ensure repairing of the affected tracks.
However the repairing work of the damaged railway tracks was remaining under progress.
Due to incident of derailing the bogies on railway tracks near Madeji railway station, the Quetta Express coming from Quetta to Karachi was detained at Shikarpur railway station where the passengers of the train staged the protest demonstration there and demanded of the railway authorities for providing railway traveling facility towards Karachi via Rohri Junction,
Later, railway authorities brought the special engine from Rohri and managed the Quetta Express to ply on the alternate railway line for Karachi via Rohri railway Junction station.
