KARACHI: A high powered committee set up to further improve law and order in Sindh has decided to recruit ten thousand police personnel during the next budget while another 3000 vacancies will be created for establishment of Special Elite Force.
Committee chairman MPA Owais Muzaffar presided over the meeting held here at Central Police Office on Saturday.
Those attended the meeting included provincial minister Jam Mehtab Dahar Secretary Home Inspector General of Police Sindh Iqbal Mahmood Additional IGP Karachi Shahid Hayat and other senior government officials.
The IGP Sindh briefing the meeting on the prevailing law and order situation and steps taken in this regard, said that Special Elite Force will be set up in all Police Ranges including Karachi for which selected Sindh Reserve Police personnel were being imparted special training.
Speaking on the occasion the Committee Chairman Owais Muzaffar laid stress on further improving police laws for which the IGP should set up a sub committee which would review the laws from 1861 to 2002 and submit its recommendations.
The chairman was informed that Sindh Police had already submitted its recommendations in this behalf to Home department upon which the Home department was directed to ensure further action on these recommendations.
Syed Owais directed the police to ensure verification of the antecedents of all security guards employed by private security agencies and prepare some strategy for their training.
He also reviewed over all law and order in the province and directed for taking all possible steps to check crimes.
He also directed to introduce one window operation for payment of dues to the heirs of the martyrs of police department and providing employment to their family members.
He appreciated the police performance during targeted operations and assured to provide all resources and man power and solving the issues faced by the department.
