ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday held a high level meeting in connection with the local bodies polls in Sindh and Punjab provinces.
Chief election commissioner, Sardar Raza Khan chaired the meeting, which was attended by Punjab and Sindh’s chief secretaries, secretaries, additional secretaries and officers of the election wing.
According to sources, the provincial governments could not agree to conduct the LB polls in October. The Punjab and Sindh governments are of the view that security officials will not be available for the LB polls due to Ashura-Muharram. Also due to flood situation, the elections should be held either in November or December.
Moreover, the ECP will present the stance of the provinces in Supreme Court (SC) tomorrow.
