Sindh offers attractive package for foreign investors – DG Mining

Sindh province has natural resources in abundance and offers good opportunities for mining and exploration of oil and gas and many other natural resources for local and foreign investors to exploit, this was stated by Director General Mines and Minerals Department Sindh, Dr Badar Jamil in a meeting with the Chief Executive Officer, SME Business Solutions, Waliullah Khan at his office the other day.
The DG MMD held meeting in connection with Chinese Group that has shown interest in mining and exploration in Punjab and announced to invest $100 million in this sector.
DG MMD, has said that Sindh province has vast opportunities in various parts of the province especially in coal, limestone, China Clay, oil and gas, etc.
He said that Sindh has one of the largest reserves of coal in Thar and work on deep mining has already started by Engro with the technical assistance of a Chinese firm. He said that the coal extraction would be started by 2017 and power generation of 660m MW to be commenced from January 2018.
Waliullah Khan said on this occasion that his company is attracting foreign investors to come to Pakistan and invest in the sectors that are providing golden opportunities. He said that he would be inviting more foreigners to invest in Pakistan especially in oil and gas sector where plenty of opportunities exist. Waliullah has thanked the DG, MMD for offering free licensing for exploration or setting up mining units in Sindh.
